The Colonial Commemorative Medal 1914-1918
Awarded to all persons, who served in the colony (Kongo) on 4th August 1914 and who were ordered to remain at their civilian posting and to all persons mobilized who were ordered to return to their civilian posting. This bronze gilt medal was instituted on 20 June 1935 and had an identical obverse and reverse : a five-pointed star with a medaillon showing the Belgian rampant lion. The medal's background is covered by leaves and the suspension is formed by two laurel branches. The ribbon is dark blue with the Belgian national colours at the edges. A bar "1914-1918" is affixed to the ribbon. |
