The Medal for Colonial War Effort 1940-1945
This medal was instituted on 30 January 1947 and could not be awarded together with the African War Medal (see above). Only the medal for which the recipient served for the longer time was awarded. The bronze medal's reverse is entirely plain while the obverse has, underneath the war years 1940-1945, the text "PRO PATRIA / VICTORIA" (Victory for the Nation). The reverse is blank. Recipients are mainly public servants, magistrates, women volunteers, clergy, police officers etc. but also other civilians, which honourably served minimum one year between 10 May 1940 and 7 May 1945. |
