On 14 January 1954 the BUNC received its fourth citation, for the whole of the Korean
War campaign. As is customary, this entailed the award of the Fourragère of the Order of
Leopold I to the unit's flag. Translated, the main part of the citation reads as follows :
Article One - The Volunteer Corps for Korea is cited on the Army's Order of the Day :
- "During the Campaign in Korea from 31 January 1951 till the cessation of
hostilities on 27 July 1953, in very difficult circumstances because of the nature of the
land and its very harsh climate, against a fanatic and over-numerous enemy, the Volunteer
Corps was at the forefront of offensive and defensive battles during the major part of
this campaign.
- During its long period at the front, its aggressiveness during continuous combat patrols
in the enemy lines, its speed in assisting neighbouring units, its solidarity in all
circumstances, have earned the esteem and trust of all allied forces.
- Within the United Nations the Volunteer Corps for Korea has, during this period,
honoured the Army and the Country."
