The Medal of the Political Prisoner 1914-1918

Awarded to Belgians who had been imprisoned for minimum one month by the enemy for acts of courage or merit in support of the Allied cause.

This bronze medal was instituted on 26 december 1930 and is identical to the King Albert Medal. Only the ribbon is different : sky blue with the national colours horizontally across the ribbon. Since 1930 this medal could also be issued with a Flemish text : "ALBERT, KONING DER BELGEN" on the obverse and "ALS BLIJK VAN 'S LANDS ERKENTELIJKHEID" on the reverse. Civilian recipients were also entitled to the Victory Medal and the Commemorative War Medal 1914-1918.
